Adventure, Speed and Hot Stuff!

Yes - this is what we’ve got lined up for this Thursday.

Adventure - it’s that one night in the year when you can trek through the 1,188 yards of the old Tidenham railway tunnel on our memorable Tunnel Run. Bring a torch - it’s dark in there!.

Speed - get your running pace up for the Leisure Centre League next Tuesday and the Magor Marsh 10k on the 20th by joining in Lou’s 5 X 800 metres speed session. Speed is what’ll get you that coveted PB.

Hot Stuff - round off  this rewarding evening with a spicy refuel at our 2nd-Thursday-in-the-month trip to Wetherspoons. A tasty curry, a big drink and stimulating company - all for £5.59.

June Championship results announced

Following a huge turnout at the Caerleon Leisure Centre League race (31 men and 14 ladies) the championship scores have been calculated and the league tables updated. See the championship page for details.

Congratulations to Steve Harris and Jane Bayliss who are currently leading the tables as we reach the half-way stage in the year!

Thanks for Hash!

Many thanks to Steve, Nicola, Judy and Bev for putting on a tough, tricky and tasty Hash run. Undaunted by heavy rain overnight, the course setters had to abandon flour for tape, but Neil Grant led the way to the surprise finish at Tintern Old Station.

Home-made cake and tea served by our old running colleague Lesley Sterry were the tasty rewards for all those who got to end of a hilly, muddy and satisfying course.

Winner of the Ladies’ prize was Lou but there were suspicions that she and her family may have taken a slight short cut.

Hash on Sunday’s Menu

Steve Hill and Nicola Bruton are cooking up another tasty Hash for this Sunday morning, 6 July at 9.30. Come along to the car park near the Cherry Tree in Tintern - just along  the Trellech road from the George Hotel.

Steve and Nicola say the run will be ’spectacular and surprising’ and about 7 miles long if you don’t go up too many blind alleys!

Slower runners will be let off the leash first, so everyone has a chance to win a prize. See you there!

And don’t forget you can whet your appetite for Sunday’s feast with a mouth-watering recce of the Magor Marsh 10k on Saturday morning at 10. Meet at race HQ at Undy Sports Field.

Leisure Centre League Results

Now updated with the official results via Eric. Perhaps someone will edit this with a more detailed commentary - too late at night for me!

I remember the race from last year and despite that I turned up for another go. The walk from the car park seemed bad enough but was only a taster of the hills to come. Someone said there were only 2 hills - I think they were a bit economical with the truth. Anyway, we had a good turnout and my quick glance at the results suggests we won the men’s competition. Well done to all who competed. Official Results , Cumulative Results after 3 races
