The Week Ahead - 15 June

A new session for Tuesday that should be fun and beneficial. Coach of the Month Andy Ost describes it: 12 Short hill sprints get you properly warmed up, then the 25 minutes of fartlek is designed to sharpen you up for racing. In groups of five you’ll take it in turns to lead for five minutes. The leader decides when to run hard and easy and the route to follow. Learn to react to the changing pace of people around you while having fun in the process!

Mallards Pike 5 miler, and Fun Run round the lake, in the Forest of Dean on Wednesday at 7. Meet at 6.15 at Leis Ctre. There should be some room on the minibus that we’ve hired for the Juniors, but we’ll be coming back fairly early with no pub stop.

A treat for Thursday! Gill and Sue are giving us a hash run:-We have planned a challenging course along the paths and tracks of Beacon Hill and the woods above Llandogo.  There isn’t much climb and if the right route choices are made, the total distance for the evening should be 6-7 miles.  It is very runnable, attractive terrain, even some views of the Brecon Beacons if the weather is good. Meet at the Leisure Centre before 7 to share travel to Beacon Hill car park, grid reference SO 511053, on the road going north off the main Llandogo to Trellech Road. The hash run will finish conveniently in a pub car park…. see you there!

And starting Sunday morning and the following three Sundays, Bill Bewg is running Magor Marsh 10k training/recce sessions. Meet 9.15 Undy Utd Football Club.

Finally if you’re doing the Cotswold Way Relay, there’s only 10 days left to do your recce. Arrangements are being made right now on the Bulletin Board under CWR 09 _Recces. Or get contact details of other runners on your leg from your Team Captain.
