Rose Inn - Series Review

Another Rose Inn Series has come and gone and again I think we can say it has been very sucessful. This has been due to the sterling work done by the people who volunteer to help out, without them it would not happen and the club would be poorer for it. My thanks to them.
The numbers of runners were up again this year, (we struggled to cope in the car park a couple of times) and we were blessed with good weather most of the time.We experienced the joys of rural running during the fourth race when the farmer took the cows for milking at 7.30 instead of the usual 5.30 and caused mayhem on the course with runners and cows dispersing in all directions! Must mention that in next years Risk Assessment.
Congratulations go to Lou Summers, Brenda Avery & James Blore for winning their age categories ( Brenda for the third year running!). Hopefully next year will be equally as sucessfull and please keep volunteering to help out, it really is important.

Forget the Train – Race Niki in Tywyn

The only Chepstow Harrier woman tough enough to Race the Train beat all our men!

Niki was the only Harrier break 2 hours, with Dick not far behind in 2:02.  I think Ian did 2:12 and Andy with achillies trouble 2:25.  Official results to follow.

Well done all.

East Wales Champs - results after race 3

East wales champs results following the 3rd race in Brecon, some good results from club members and the team standing looking good, check it out.

The last race of the series is Elan Valley 10mile, good luck

The Week Ahead - 10 August

It’s the last Rose Inn on Tuesday. Andy Meek-Welsh, who has organised the series as competently as always, would still like to hear from you if you can help.

A very special away run on Thursday based around Cleddon, just above Tintern and Llandogo. Nikki Morgan has come up with a very scenic off-road ramble starting from the White Stone car park at 7.20. Most of us will meet at the Leisure Ctre at 6.55 to share cars. It’s 7 miles with plenty of ups and downs and some really fast bits. There’ll be a short cut for those who fancy it.

And to round off a hard run - what better than a tasty curry and drink at the Bellhanger. Yes it’s the monthly Curry Night. Get scrubbed up and down town before 10 and treat yourself for just £5.59!

Still time to go for Race the Train on Saturday. See the Bulletin Board for details, or ask me. A good off-road race on Sunday is the Standish Woodland Chase near Stroud which includes the woods in Stage 5 of the Cotswold Way Relay.

Brecon 10mile (2nd Aug 09)

Recieved a copy of the Brecon 10 results so thought i’d pop them on the blog for all those who ran.  They have also been passed to Mr Club Champs for the scores to be work out.

Brecon 10mile (09) full results

Mr Ost, i know you were there, but i can’t find you in the results?  Any ideas!

And here are the Harriers extracted, apologies for anyone missed out (AO at least!), if you were it’s because the club name wasn’t down.  I spotted one runner but may have missed others.

Brecon 10mile (09) Chepstow Harriers only

Some great performances there by all.  Well done.

Anyone want to write a report?

The Week Ahead - 3 August

Andy Creber is the August Coach of the Month, and has put on a ‘Cruise Intervals Pace’ session on Tuesday. You’ll need to refer to your Training Pace Range guide for your personal pace.

To suit the Summery weather we’ve been having recently, on Thursday we have the Sea Wall run, always bracing, with ice creams laid on by the Coach at the end maybe? Or then again, maybe not…

One little race worth mentioning on Friday eve is the Islwyn Murder Mile. A challenge for those who fancy themselves as good uphill. A very sociable occasion based at the Church Inn, Mynyddislwyn, near Cross Keys. More details on:
