Enter now for E Wales T & F

Anyone fancy their chances in the East Wales Track & Field Champs in Cardiff on Sat 8 May.

I know there are one or two Harriers who can sprint, jump and throw, and the 3k would suit our distance runners. Don’t think you won’t be good enough. Often the leading times are surprisingly attainable.

And we’re talking all age groups from U13 to senior athletes. No separate vets/masters categories alas, but all ages are welcome.

The closing date has been extended to this Monday 26 April, so just time to get your entry in. Do it via me, Dick, if you like. Call on 01291 627569, or email or PM on our Bulletin Board.

Club Handicap –22 April 2010 - Race 1

(Results posted here on the blog - will appear properly on the website in due course - Ivan)

A good spell of dry weather helped make the course fast and the evening pleasant.  Conditions seemed very good, and the surface was less rutted than in the past.

41 runners ran on the night (a great turnout, thanks).  First home was Dave Andrews, followed by Dan Holland who has recently joined the club, with Geoff Bayliss in third place.

Very good times on the night included Tom Gibbs who ran 28.42 (12 secs off Calum’s 2007 record, I’ll put a bet that the record might go this year!!!).  Paul Murrin ran 29.36.  Sam Harris was the fastest lady in 33.13.  I believe there were several PBs on the night.  Well done!

The full results are on the attached sheet.  As you can see the first runner gets 50 points etc, and the number of points in the two best races will be counted at the end of the series to find out the overall series winner.

In addition this year the handicap series counts towards the Club Championship, so I have attached a list of the runners in time order.

My very grateful thanks to all the helpers: James to helped with the initial handicapping and saved me a long job, Brenda who set up the course, Syd and Jane Rymer who did the start and finish, Suzie and Roberta who helped organise the starters and took names at the finish, and Lou with the children who seemed to turn up all around the course to cheer us on and everyone else who came to spectate!

The next handicap is on Thursday 6 May, at 7.15pm.Vanessa
