LCL Road Race 17th Aug. Chepstow
10/08/2010 by Lou.
The last in the series of leisure centre league road races is next Tuesday – hosted by Chepstow.
By running it helps the team plus it would be great to have a good turnout at our own race.
Many will know the course but for those who don’t it’s a reasonably hilly 10k route similar to the Hayesgate run.
The race will start just beyond the junction of St. Lawrence road and Mounton Road, along Mounton Road but we will meet at Chepstow Leisure centre from 6.45 pm to jog to the start.
Also if you are injured or can’t run for some other reason your help as a marshal would be appreciated - please let us know. Email Dick dickfinch@talktalk.net or me summers363@btinternet.com ( before Sunday ) or reply on the bulletin board http://chepstowharriers.org.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=995&sid=065ccc3835a36a8ee6730124d6414520 .
Thanks
The Week Ahead 9 Aug 2010
09/08/2010 by Dick.
The final Rose Inn on Tuesday so we’re putting on a speed session on Thursday as well as a run. It’ll be 3 sets of 4X300 metres.
The Thursday run will be round Chepstow Park Wood, but a very different run to the usual Handicap route. Vanessa has devised a run that we’ll be testing out for a possible mountain bike route to be cycled on maybe Wed 25 August. It’ll be a roughly 5 mile up-and-down run, and we’ll make sure no-one gets left behind.
Meet at Leis Centre 6.50 to share cars.
And finally – the next fell race in our Club series, the Sugar Loaf on Saturday, 11am from Abergavenny Leis Ctre. This really is a non-technical 7 miler with just a couple of rocky bits around the summit. Enter on the day, only £3, hot showers, refreshments. Meet Chep LC at 9.
Change to August Changes!!!
05/08/2010 by Dick.
You won’t believe this and I do most humbly apologise, but I forgot to include the highlight of this month’s programme - the ‘Away’ run that Berta is putting on from the Nag’s Head in Yorkley on Thursday 19th August.
It’s about five miles of prime forest trails, and many Harriers will remember the Yorkley Gallop race that was based on the Nag’s Head.
I’ve corrected the Training page, and will be reminding everybody on The Week Ahead.
Changes to August Training!!!
04/08/2010 by Dick.
Chris has added some more sessions on a couple of Thursdays to make up for the lack of speedwork over the last two months.
We’ve also re-jigged some of the Thursday runs, and included a run round Chepstow Park which may well be used for a mountain bike course on a Wed eve soon.
So if you’ve stuck on your wall the schedule printed in WotsOn, it needs replacing by the new one on the Training page:-

The Week Ahead 2 August 2010
02/08/2010 by Dick.
Chris Rees starts his reign as Coach of the Month with a new Tuesday session of 600 metres (1 ½ laps) at 5k pace, followed after a 600 metre jog with 1,000 metres (2 ½ laps) at 10k pace. We do this three times in all.
And following diligent study of the tide tables, Chris invites us to run the Fossil Beach on Thursday. We haven’t done this one for a few years and it’s a fascinating run. The beach part beneath Sedbury Cliffs can be slippery, so we’ll take this bit very steadily.
And on Saturday you’re welcome to travel to Llanthony in the Black Mountains for the short hill race that features in this small country show. Organised by our Head Coach it’s free to all showgoers and starts at 12.15 – or whenever the route through the showground becomes clear.
There are plenty of other things for a family to do in the show including novelty races in the arena and - for adults only - the notorious beer race! Lots of food and drink and all the fun of the fair await you. People start arriving about 10am.
