Final Parkrun opportunity
29/12/2011 by Vanessa.
Final Parkrun of 2011 on Saturday 31st December, 9am from Lakers School, Berry Hill. About 30mins drive from Chepstow.
The Forest of Dean Parkrun is the only one to count towards club championship points so if you have only done 6 events then now is your chance to complete the 2011 championship!!
There is also a 2k Junior Parkrun at 10am.
DON’T FORGET YOUR BARCODE!!
27th Dec Treasure Hunt
26/12/2011 by Gerry.
The Tintern Treasure Hunt is on 27th December starting from Tintern Wireworks car park at 11:00am (from Chepstow turn left at Royal George and then 400m on right). This is how it works: You can either run individually or in pairs (or triplets if you want to). You will get a map of Tintern and the surrounding area (Scale 1:15000) and a question sheet. There are 19 questions at points marked on the map. The time limit is 90 minutes and there are penalty points if you are late back. Prizes for the best performances. Bring a pen and plastic bag for question/answer sheet if it is wet. The map is waterproof.
Free drink and food at the Abbey Mill, 5 minutes walk from car park.
(Just noticed it wasn’t advertised here and wanted to spread the word.)

A fun-packed Weaker Head is a-coming!
All the joys of Steep Street on Tuesday. In the olden days this ancient thoroughfare was the site of at least four public houses. Alas none remain, but nowadays you can get intoxicated with the pleasure of skipping up this fine gradient.
And even more fun and games on Thursday, you lucky people! Our annual Christmas Relays down at the Loop Road, Beachley.
It’s important that everyone joins in – our teams must contain runners of all speeds to make it all work. So there’ll be Juniors, Strivers, ancient men like the Club President and Head Coach, as well as quick sleek men and fast racy women.
Prizes for best fancy dress (as judged by Life President), and for winning teams of course, and for any exceptional performances (not necessarily running!). You’ll have to be pretty boring to come away empty-handed!
Then it’s off to Wetherspoons for our Christmas drink. Hurrah!!!
Xmas Tree Race - lift
17/12/2011 by Lou.
We are leaving at 9:00 am if anyone needs a lift to the race - atm there is no meeting time - people are generally making their own way there.
If you need a lift phone and leave a message.
5k Thanks Anne, Dick + Mark

For helping with the 5k TT on the bridge last night - it was quite a night out there! Well done to everyone who braved the race too.

Tuesday’s session is the 5k Time Trial on the Severn Bridge starting at 7.30. May be a bit breezy but if it’s in your face one way it’ll be in your bottom going the other way.
On Thursday you can choose between the Itton 8 and a special 6 mile run if you’re one of our dear Strivers. Then there’s the usual alternative speed session of 10 x 400 on the Bridge. All wanting to do the Bridge session should post their name in the Comment box below to be sure of some other runners.
Whichever you choose, don’t forget it’s the Christmas meal at the Shangri La.
And finally the last Club Champs monthly race is the Christmas Tree race at Ellwood in the Forest. You can enter on the day and enjoy a scenic off-road 5 miler.
Harriers Star for East Wales
10/12/2011 by Dick.
Credit to all Harriers who represented East Wales today in the Inter Regional Champs at Builth Wales.
Paul Murrin and Mark Harvey – Snr Men.
Vanessa Lawson and Helen Duffield – Masters Women.
Pete Ward, Stuart Penny, Paul Lidgett, Mark English, Laurie Carter, Neil Grant – Masters Men.
They all ran well, and we believe the 35-44 women and the 40-49 men’s team won gold!
The Week Ahead 5 December 2011
05/12/2011 by Dick.
Well, Bulletin Board reader/s will know that the coaching team has responded to popular demand by putting on Thornwell Loop for the second week running.
There’ll be a difference of course: last week’s version was scheduled by November’s Coach of the Month, Andy Meek-Welsh, and capably managed by Dave Somersall; while this Tuesday’s has been scheduled by December’s C of M Lou Summers. You lucky people!
On Thursday the Boughspring Runs will suit all elements of our membership, with the shortest route being just perfect for the Strivers.
I hear there is a demand for the Thursday speed session on the Bridge, but potential participants are advised to post their intent in the Comments box below this Blog. If people know there are others meeting at the Larkfield roundabout layby or down on the Bridge they know it’s worth the journey.
And finally – being the second Thursday in the month it’s CURRY NIGHT. See you there.
