The Week Ahead 30 Jan 2012

Elm Road is Tuesday’s workout. An ideal session on a quiet road with an up and down on each lap – great for leg speed and leg strength.
Then it’s that old favourite, the Tour of the Town, on Thursday.
And finally, the next round of the Leisure Centre League cross-country series. Up at Parc Bryn Bach, with its mixture of mown grass, moorland and tram road bed, there’s never a dull moment on this circuit. Hot showers and hot drinks in the Visitors Centre afterwards make this a great running experience. Be there!
Meet at 9am to share cars.

Parkruns for Club Championship
23/01/2012 by James.
As everyone should know by now (and here’s a reminder), one of the optional races for this year’s Club Champs is any Parkrun 5k throughout the year. And as there are loads of them - all over the world now in fact - and I can’t check them all every weekend:
If you want your parkrun time counted in the club championship then you must email me at stats@chepstowharriers.org.uk with the place and date that you ran (so I can find you in the results), or simply provide a link to the parkrun results website. If you don’t and I don’t know that you have run, then you won’t be included in the results. It would also help if you let me know fairly soon after you have run, as it would be a pain to correct the results retrospectively (i.e. we don’t want people in November saying they did a parkrun back in March).
I will put this message on the Bulletin Board and the Club Champs page as well.
Thanks, James
PS If you’ve run at the FoD, Newport, Cardiff or Colwick since the start of the year, then you don’t need to email me as I’ve got all your times down.
The Week Ahead 23 Jan 2012

Steep Street is this Tuesday’s venue dear runner. Six long and six short hills will give you a marvellous cardio-vascular boost as well as upping your leg strength for improved running efficiency in all your future training and races.
Then try out that improved efficiency and cardio-vascular ability on Thursday in the Severn Bridge 5k Time Trial. Regular time triallists find that their racing know-how and race times have benefitted from the monthly no-pressure Bridge runs.
Hope to see you on Saturday evening at the annual awards dinner. I hear that there are still a few places left for this informal gathering. The delicious and plentiful home-made food alone is worth the admission price, folks.

It’s the good ol’ Thornwell Loop on Tuesday. We’re expecting some of the older Juniors to join in so it’ll be a jolly Club night. To save energy and time don’t be afraid to drive down to the shops car park, but try to avoid patronising the chip shop before your run. Afterwards yes – they’re nice and you get very generous helpings
Either the Itton 8 on Thursday, or the Strivers have a nice 6-miler that mentor Ms Jackie will be emailing you about.
Have a good week.
