Cross Country Championships 2010

Hi All,

Just a follow on from Dick’s earlier posting regarding East Wales qualification.

Today , I bumped into the East Wales Athletics officer at a regional school cross-country meeting, and he asked me to convey the following info.

Selection for East Wales qualification will be made from the Gwent league meeting at Bridgend this coming Sunday. Entry is £1 and forms can be obtained from team captains Lou & Mark, or collected on the day from the East Wales tent. East Wales will select teams in the U13 to senior age groups to represent the region in two matches;

Welsh Inter Regional Championships (Builth Wells, 12th December 2010)

UK Inter Counties Championships (Birmingham, 5th March 2011)

Selection will be made using the following criteria:

Welsh Inter Regional Championships;

All age groups = 15 to run. The first 6 from the East Wales Champs will gain automatic selection. All other selections will be made by studying current form in schools and club league matches etc.

UK Inter Counties Championships;

Based on last year, Junior age groups are 12 pre-entries, 8 to run. The first 5 from the Welsh Inter Regional Championships will gain automatic selection. For Senior men and Senior women, 15 pre entries, 9 to run. The first 4 from the Welsh Inter Regional Championships will gain automatic selection.

There are no masters races so masters will be considered for senior selection.

So if you’re a Junior, Senior or Master, and fancy representing East Wales, come along to the Gwent League cross-country meeting this Sunday at Newbridge Fields, Bridgend.

Cheers

Crop Tops

Ladies,

I’ve managed to find a replacement supplier for crop vests. The colouring and font design is very similiar to the original one, however, two styles are available - these being a standard “full” back and a T-back. Also you’ll be pleased to hear they’re of equal quality (Lycra) to the original, but considerably cheaper at £13:80.

I presently have a sample available if you want to try before you buy. The ordering will be slightly different from conventional methods, in as much as you’ll be required to complete an order form (which will be made available asap via a link off the club kit page) and post off along with your cheque.

Have a look for yourself at the link below, but please dont order just yet as the account set up is not yet finalised.

Please feel free to contact me if you require any further info.

San Domenico 20

Ideal conditions (although a little too hot for me) saw Pete Hutton, Ian Wade and myself tackle the out and back undulating San Domenico 20 miler, which follows the Taff trail starting at Merthyr Tydfil. With lots of runners using this as a good prep race for their spring marathon, Ian (Vienna), Pete (Ridgeway 40) and I (London) were no different.

Results as follows:

Yours truely 24th…..2:23

Pete 60th……………….2:38

Ian 97th………………….2:53

Despite the arching quads, stiff calfs and juicy blisters, a good race was had by all.

Quiz Night

I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our quiz night on Friday, and kindly donated to my charity, Phabkids. With your generosity £138 was raised through the raffle, book sales and sponsorship. Once again Thank you so much.
